Job Description

Instructional Duties:

1. Teach music theory, history, and practical skills in a variety of music genres (classical, jazz, contemporary, etc.).
Provide lessons on various instruments (piano, guitar, voice, etc.) or focus on specialized areas (composition, conducting, etc.).
Develop and implement lesson plans based on students’ abilities and curriculum requirements.
Conduct group or individual lessons depending on the needs of the student or school.

2. Student Assessment:
Assess student progress and performance regularly through tests, assignments, and recitals.
Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills.
Prepare students for auditions, exams, and performances.

3. Classroom Management:
Create a positive, engaging, and respectful learning environment.
Manage classroom behavior and ensure that students are focused on their music practice.
Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.

4. Performance Opportunities:
Organize and lead recitals, concerts, or public performances.
Encourage students to participate in school and community music events.
Coordinate with other music teachers for collaborative performances and events.

5. Curriculum Development:
Create and update teaching materials to keep up with the evolving music education landscape.
Select appropriate teaching methods, textbooks, and tools for students of various levels.
Stay informed on current trends and research in music education.

6. Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Communicate with parents or guardians about student performance, progress, and areas of improvement.
Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to school-wide events or initiatives.

7. Professional Development:
Attend workshops, conferences, or training programs to continue developing musical and teaching skills.
Collaborate with colleagues to share teaching strategies and insights.

8. Student Engagement:
Inspire and motivate students to appreciate and excel in music.
Foster creativity and artistic expression through various musical projects or compositions.

Skills & Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and performance techniques.
Ability to teach students of different ages and skill levels.
Proficiency in one or more musical instruments or vocal performance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
