Lab Assistant (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

Job Description

The Science Lab Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the science laboratory. This includes maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing materials for experiments, ensuring a safe working environment, and assisting students or researchers during practical sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Maintenance:
Clean, organize, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Calibrate and perform basic maintenance on laboratory instruments.
Monitor and restock chemicals, glassware, and other consumables as needed.
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Experiment Preparation:
Set up materials, tools, and equipment for science experiments or practical classes.
Assist in the preparation of chemical solutions and samples following safety protocols.
Test-run experiments to ensure functionality before class or demonstration.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the lab.
Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards.
Assist in maintaining safety documentation, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Support for Students and Staff:
Provide guidance to students on proper use of lab equipment.
Support teachers or researchers during lab activities and demonstrations.
Respond to technical or operational queries during lab sessions.
