Job Description

The Science Lab Technician provides technical support and assistance to teachers and students during laboratory sessions. They ensure the smooth and safe operation of physics, chemistry, and biology labs by preparing, maintaining, and managing laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.

Lab Preparation
Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for laboratory experiments in physics, chemistry, and biology.
Ensure all materials are available and organized for practical lessons, demonstrations, and research activities.
Test experiments and equipment in advance to confirm functionality and safety.

Safety and Maintenance
Follow and enforce strict health and safety guidelines in the lab.
Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory equipment regularly.
Safely store chemicals, biological specimens, and radioactive materials following safety protocols.
Dispose of hazardous waste and chemicals in compliance with safety regulations.

Inventory Management
Monitor and manage inventory for lab supplies, ordering replacements when necessary.
Maintain accurate records of chemicals, specimens, and equipment.
Label and organize stock to ensure ease of access.

Support and Collaboration
Assist teachers during laboratory sessions and demonstrations.
Provide technical advice and training to students on using lab equipment safely.
Collaborate with the science department to design and improve experiments.

General Duties
Ensure proper labeling of all laboratory items and maintain an organized workspace.
Keep records of experiments, incidents, and maintenance activities.
Stay up-to-date with new laboratory techniques and safety standards.
