Reports to: Head of Department / Principal
Responsibilities:
Classroom Instruction:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum standards.
Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing skills, and literary analysis.
Encourage critical thinking and discussion about texts, themes, and language structures.
Use diverse teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
Curriculum Development:
Design and implement lesson plans that align with school curriculum guidelines.
Create assignments, quizzes, and exams to assess student progress.
Adapt curriculum to integrate modern texts, contemporary language usage, and multimedia resources.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
Manage student behavior and ensure a conducive learning atmosphere.
Address student concerns and provide individual support when necessary.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Assess student work and provide constructive feedback to promote growth.
Track student progress and communicate regularly with parents or guardians.
Prepare and mark exams, essays, and other written work.
Professional Development:
Stay updated with new teaching methods, literature, and curriculum standards.
Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and other professional development opportunities.
Extracurricular Involvement:
Engage in school activities such as coaching clubs, organizing school events, or leading reading groups.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other teachers, support staff, and administrators to enhance the overall learning environment.
Participate in interdisciplinary teaching efforts and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred for higher-level teaching).
Teaching certification or licensure.
Proven experience in teaching English at the school level.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Passion for literature and language.
