Job Description
Job Purpose:
To educate students in the use and comprehension of the English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The teacher also helps students develop critical thinking and communication skills, often through the study of literature and other forms of written and spoken English.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning Lessons: Prepare daily lesson plans, units, and objectives that are engaging and meet curriculum standards.
Teaching English Language Skills: Teach grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure. Help students improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Literature Instruction: Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, such as poetry, drama, short stories, and novels.
Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate students through tests, quizzes, essays, and other assessments to track progress and determine areas that need improvement.
Classroom Management: Maintain a well-ordered classroom that fosters learning and engagement while addressing student behavior and participation issues.
Individualized Support: Offer additional support to students who are struggling or excelling, including special education students or those with language barriers.
Technology Integration: Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance learning and engagement (e.g., digital storytelling, presentations, research projects).
Extracurricular Engagement: Participate in or sponsor extracurricular activities such as writing clubs, theater productions, or debate teams.
Collaboration: Work with other teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure student success and coordinate interdisciplinary activities.
Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest educational trends, teaching strategies, and literature by attending workshops and conferences.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree may be preferred or required for certain positions).
Teaching certification or license as required by the region.
Strong knowledge of English grammar, literature, and language arts.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching.

Proficiency in classroom technology tools (Smartboards, educational apps, etc.).
