Nursery Teacher
Job Description
A Nursery Teacher provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children (typically aged 3–5 years) to grow and develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. They plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities that foster creativity, curiosity, and a love for learning while ensuring each child’s individual needs are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
Plan and implement a curriculum that supports the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework (or equivalent).
Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons and activities in areas like literacy, numeracy, arts, and physical play.
Foster language development, social skills, and early problem-solving abilities.
Encourage creativity through imaginative play, music, storytelling, and art.
Childcare and Safety
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all children.
Monitor and record each child’s development, reporting concerns to parents or senior staff when necessary.
Promote positive behavior and social skills, teaching children to share, take turns, and respect others.
Ensure all safeguarding and health and safety regulations are followed.
Parent/Guardian Engagement
Build positive relationships with parents/guardians and keep them informed about their child’s progress.
Conduct regular parent-teacher meetings and provide updates on developmental milestones.
Offer advice on how parents can support learning at home.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with colleagues, assistants, and other staff members to create a supportive environment.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and development sessions.
Administrative Tasks
Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and developmental milestones.
Prepare and manage materials, resources, and equipment for activities.
