Physical Education Teacher
Job Description
A Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for promoting students’ physical fitness, health, and well-being by developing and delivering engaging sports and fitness programs. The role involves teaching students fundamental movement skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle choices while ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching & Instruction:
Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum.
Teach various physical activities, including team sports, individual fitness, and recreational games.
Educate students about the importance of exercise, proper nutrition, and overall health.
Adapt lessons to accommodate students of different skill levels and abilities.
2. Student Development & Assessment:
Assess and monitor students’ physical abilities and progress.
Provide feedback and encouragement to help students improve their skills and confidence.
Foster teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills in students.
3. Safety & Classroom Management:
Ensure the safety of students during physical activities by enforcing rules and proper use of equipment.
Maintain a positive, respectful, and disciplined learning environment.
Implement first aid procedures in case of injuries and report incidents as required.
4. Extracurricular Activities & School Events:
Organize and coach school sports teams for competitions.
Plan and coordinate inter-school and intra-school sports events, fitness programs, and field days.
Promote a culture of sportsmanship and active participation in school-wide wellness initiatives.
5. Administrative & Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain records of students’ participation, progress, and assessments.
Ensure proper care, inventory, and maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
Collaborate with other teachers, school staff, and parents to support student growth.
Stay updated on best practices in physical education through workshops and professional development.
